Ladd Street connects the back of the High/Hanover St. city parking garage with Market Street. Visible on the left side of the frame is the newly opened Old Stove Bakery, which features delicious cupcakes! The reflections of the buildings gives a surreal feeling to the street, appearing almost as though a reflective stream divides the buildings rather than pavement.

Wind | From the Mary E. Prescott Pier
I wanted to give everyone a little flavor of what it’s like to be out shooting in the elements and conditions that often lend themselves to making great photographs, so I’ve included a video from that day below. This late evening on the Mary E. Prescott Pier might look familiar – as I previously posted a similar shot from the same spot, which I think has a great allure between the docks and the bridge. The intense wind that day was refreshing, and can definitely be seen on the water’s surface. This post is in honor of fall’s arrival and the approaching New England winter! Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in more video footage in the future.

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (which is actually located in Kittery, ME) as seen from the Sawtelle Pier at Prescott Park. The clouds dominated the late afternoon as the cloud ceiling reflects off the wind blown water. The shot below features a close up of the massive shipyard cranes.

Clouds & Reflections
Another sunset shot, another one of Portsmouth’s often photographed waterfront vistas. The steeple/clock of the former Children’s Museum of Portsmouth is visible in the cloudy skyline. Shot from the bridge to Peirce Island from Prescott Park. Treat yourself to an evening walk next time you’re in the area.

A Certain Softness
You might recognize this vista of Tugboats and the Memorial Bridge from the site’s new header. I thought it fitting to feature it as a standalone post in honor of the fast approaching fall season before the decks close in a few short weeks. Take a peek at another shot from this evening HERE. If you’re like me, you can’t get enough of the tugboats and the waterfront.

The Ice Cream Cone
Portsmouth’s unique alley behind the tugboats and en route to the Decks is known as Ceres Street, which will soon be getting a facelift courtesy of the City. Last time I featured Annabelle’s on the site, people commented that they never knew there was a giant ice cream cone hanging above the door. This view is easily one of my favorites in the city with the different nuances among the brick colors on the rowhouses.
