The Press Room is one of Portsmouth’s most longstanding establishments – and is unquestionably the destination for live music in Portsmouth. The place has a phenomenal vibe, and live music every night of the week…with rustic exposed wooden beams, a cozy bar, and a friendly atmosphere. Next time you’ve got a hankering for music and a pint…head over to Daniel Street. The architect of the institution’s rich music history and culture, Bruce Pingree, was recently interviewed by Gossip Lady over at SeacoastOnline.com.

It was trash day downtown…the recycling bins and trash cans sit out on the sidewalk after Public Works did their thing. It brings a real tangible dynamic to the otherwise picturesque storefront.

This welcoming storefront belongs to Three Graces Gallery on Market Street downtown. The gallery’s location on Market Street usually gives it gorgeous sunsets, with rich intense rays of sunlight reaching down Hanover Street to hit the storefront for a few minutes before retiring for the day. The shop also has a gorgeous hanging sign, but there’s something about a straight on shot of a store with a good door that I can’t get enough of. More shots to follow of the hanging sign and of the window soaked in sunlight to follow another time… If you love art, do yourself a favor and stop in to see the one of a kind items featured in the gallery. Currently, the Teeny Tiny Art Show VIII is featured and well worth a visit.

A few months back I did an interior shoot for the Wentworth-Gardner House located in Portsmouth’s South End. The home will be opening soon (June 14th – see hours HERE). One of the neat features of the Georgian-style home was this mural painted on one of the interior walls. The sea-colors of the deep blues and stormy purples make for a nice scene, and I thought the door within a door along with the various light sources made for a unique shot. You’ll have to stop in and check it out sometime this summer.
