Miniature Market Street | A Huge Thank You

Here’s a unique take on Market Street, with Footnotes (local shoestore) in the closest window to the right. Loved this tilt-shift shot of the infamous shopping locale downtown, particularly with the glowing windows and bricks, and the out of focus lights towards the left half of the frame.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank EVERYONE who came to see the opening at the Portsmouth Art Exchange gallery this evening. I’m grateful to have had such a great turnout for my first show, even if there were only 10 prints to see….a really fun night for me!
A very special thanks goes out to my parents (pic below w/brother Jon) for making the trek from Massachusetts to enjoy the evening, my lovely lady Steph for helping select the prints for the night, Ocean Bank for all of my great colleagues’ continued support, Mark Dearborn (& the Infinite Imaging crew) for designing/printing such beautiful save the date cards & posters, J.L. Stevens for the opportunity to be featured in the Portsmouth Herald’s Spotlight magazine, David Young (& the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra) for his continued support & interest, Lisa Mills for her continued support, Brian Matiash (another New England HDR guru) for making the trek from MA – and countless other locals from coming to say hello, and for new folks for coming and sharing their thoughts on my work (and to everyone who was there in spirit). Thanks to Jane & Paul at the Art Exchange for their interest in having me at the gallery! A truly special evening that I won’t soon forget!

A Freighter & A Brick Wall | Square Crops

To complete the week and the arrival/departure of another freighter, the Tsuru from Nassau, here’s a square crop of the huge ship’s stern (I featured a bright red daytime shot of the bow earlier this week). Also, in keeping with the square cropped images (which I’m drawn towards lately), here’s a beautiful natural shot of a brick wall on Atkinson Street (near Strawbery Banke) and a shutter holder in some intense midday light.

Save The Date | Friday February 5th

Exciting news! This coming Friday, February 5th – I will be featured as part of the Art ‘Round Town evening gallery walk at the newly opened Portsmouth Art Exchange (220 State Street), which is taking place from 5pm-8pm. This represents the first show that myself or The Daily Portsmouth has had, and I couldn’t be much more excited (especially since it’s the first time I’ve seen my stuff printed/framed in a large format!).

Mark Dearborn, a very talented local graphic designer, reached out to me and we collaborated on putting together some slick save the date cards and some posters to try and increase awareness throughout the area. Check them out above and below!

I’d love it if you stopped by to say hello so I can thank you for visiting and supporting The Daily Portsmouth! I’ll be signing whatever posters and save the date cards that we have left for those who make the voyage over to Portsmouth Art Exchange.

Below are all of the prints that arrived in time for Friday’s event! This is all you’ll get to see for now, you’ll have to visit the gallery for the full experience… (It was like Christmas in January opening all of the boxes)

Warm Weather Arrives in Portsmouth

I took advantage of the warmer weather we had today and went for a stroll. I hate to bore people with the same spots over and over, but I find myself drawn to the same places – and with another newly arrived freighter (the Atlantic Cozumel from Panama) and perfect conditions, snapped the shot above (and updated the header). Below is another artistic take on the Martingale Wharf project.

Check back again in coming days, I’m working on putting together a video compilation of various scenes that I’ve shot with the camera throughout the year. It’s been fun to put together, and I think you’ll like it.

I’m also exploring the possibility of having some work displayed at the newly opened gallery at 220 State Street – the Portsmouth Art Exchange. I met Jane Sewell this afternoon and had a lovely chat with her, go visit the store and say hello (and stay tuned, if everything comes together there will be an opening where I’d love to meet everyone!).
