The Piscataqua River Bridge is the dominant feature in this image taken from Great Cove Boat Club in Kittery, Maine.  The sunset was a fiery one and the late day blue light just barely illuminates the boats in the foreground as the bridge silhouette stands tall in the distance.

The New Hampshire Coastline enjoys a winter sunset and Great Island Common has a front row seat to the end of the day.  The pastel sky and the contrasty silhouetted rocks in the foreground are reason enough to get me back out for more sunsets and attempts to capture some natural beauty.

I was walking along Marcy Street next to Prescott Park when I looked west and noticed that the sun was setting in the distance just beyond the yellow lines of Court Street.  I stopped to snap a few handheld brackets when a car decided to do what cars do, drive up the street.  At first I was irked, but when I got home to process the shots from the afternoon, I decided that I liked the dynamic that the motion brought to the shot. Looking forward to getting out to do some winter shooting in the near future!

It doesn’t take a boat to be a fisherman.  This gentleman was strolling up and down the shore in Ogunquit, Maine in an effort to catch something.  It was both enjoyable and fascinating to watch, as the sun set on the east coast.  Taken with a 100-300mm older zoom lens, I was trying to get out of my usual pattern of grand landscape shots.  I like the vignetting on the lens from being wide open as I tried to try and freeze the fisherman’s cast.

The proud owners of these oceanfront homes get to enjoy this magnificent view day in and day out.  We were driving around Ogunquit when we stumbled on this road, which happened to be well positioned to catch the clouds and their reflections in the ocean.  The depth in the shot with the walkways and the fence drew me in immediately, so we absolutely had to pull over for a few quick exposures.

Getting back to some Portsmouth images, here is a shot taken from the walkway on the Memorial Bridge of a stunning sunset over the Piscataqua River.

You have to click this one to see it large.  The submarine that is docked in port at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is being hosed off as the shipyard glows in the late day sunlight underneath some colorful and fluffy clouds.  What a serene scene and a nice portrait of the colorful cranes on the Maine horizon.
