Portsmouth Harbor Light

One of my absolute favorite things in the world is the fresh scent of saltwater blowing briskly in the air.  This is a good spot to enjoy it on Great Island Common in New Castle, NH.  With the tide lower you can see the seaweed exposed on the rocks in the foreground.

Portsmouth is an old town.  I thought I’d try to capture the timelessness of the waterfront row houses and the Moran Towing tugs that look like they have been (and actually have been) on the City’s waterfront forever (since 1967).  The washed out rainy sky helped create the mood.  Seen in the background is the Martingale Wharf building under construction, The Old Ferry Landing deck, and of course – the Memorial Bridge.
