Rooflines | Portsmouth From Above

Rooflines as seen from 100 Market Street along Market Street towards the North Church.  Always fascinating to see the curve of the streets below mirrored in the roofs of the buildings.  Another example of Bow Street can be seen here in the post from June 25th.

Historic Waterfront

From the bridge to Peirce Island, there is a great view to the old South End of Portmsouth.  The Wentworth-Gardner House is tucked in the middle of the picture while the building to the right is Buying Lobsters Selling Bait.  Feels like a step backward in time with the homes largely in tact from decades ago – as opposed to the continued evolution of Portsmouth’s downtown.

Tugboats | Salt Piles

This ranks as one of my favorite Portsmouth waterfront photos.  The golden clouds at sunset frame this idyllic tugboat shot along with the salt piles at Granite State Minerals and the industrial smoke stack to the far right.  This was taken from above the Harpoon Willy’s deck during the winter, before the decks hit their stride during the spring/summer season.

Custom House | Pleasant Street

The Custom House has been featured previously on The Daily Portsmouth from the vantage point of the 2nd floor at Ocean Bank.  This shot was taken from my parking spot in the employee parking lot. The building is a classic and imposing structure located in Portsmouth’s historic district downtown and plays host to several local businesses and also a delicious sushi restaurant, Sakurabana.

River House | The Decks, Portsmouth

The River House has replaced the old Stockpot on Portsmouth’s famed decks situated on the waterfront of the Piscataqua River.  Read about The Beer Drinking Report’s recent visit (and seal of approval) here.  I’ll be making my first voyage to their deck the next time the weather and my schedule can agree.  In the meantime, here’s a shot of the front entrance along the curves of Bow Street for your enjoyment.
