The Infamous Portsmouth Middle School (& the Stinky Mill Pond)

There has been a significant amount of talk around Portsmouth about its old middle school building, and what to do about it.  The City Council recently approved (finally) a $37.5 million bond to renovate and expand the existing middle school as seen here on Parrott Avenue.

I used to park near the school for work before the City began to debate what to do with the building, and since then I’ve always liked to see the old brick building perched over the South Mill Pond.

  1. Hello,

I found your website by accident and I am so happy I did.
    Wonderful Pictures!!!
I live in Montreal-Canada and visited Portsmouth, last month for the second time, this year.
At the Portsmouth center, a lady told me how lucky we were to live in a city like Montreal.I replied to her, by saying how lucky she was to live in a city like Portsmouth.Wonderful place.
I miss it, already, but I am going back in October.
In the mean time, I have your pictures to keep me close to it.

      Best,
      Phil
