Prescott Park is one of Portsmouth’s true gems, a beautiful waterfront park full of benches, places to admire the bridges, naval shipyard, botanical gardens, etc. The land was donated to the City to serve as a park for residents and tourists to enjoy access to the waterfront.
I need to do some homework on just when and how the Prescott sisters donated the land to the City, but I do know for sure that they did – and that their legacy will live a long time. This pier doesn’t do Mary the justice she deserves.
