The Waterfront in Black & White

Portsmouth is lucky to have the Piscataqua River waterfront that connects it to the Atlantic Ocean and Portsmouth Harbor.  A beautiful part of town is nestled right on the shoulder of the river, giving homes great waterfront views and lending a timeless look to the area.  It’s easy to imagine what Portsmouth might have been like in any of the centuries since its founding in the 1600s…the only thing that’s really changed is the amount of homes that dots the shoreline (and probably their appearance and the amount of modern luxuries stuffed inside).  In any event – here’s a take on the waterfront from the South End.  The water gets its nice glassy look from the neutral density filter and long exposures used  to create this shot.
