The garden in Prescott Park is a colorful, inviting and peaceful little spot tucked between Marcy Street and the open grounds of Prescott Park. With fountains and wizened old trees, there aren’t very many (if any) places you’ll find downtown that have the same magical feel.
Ceres Street is one of my favorite spots in Portsmouth – the tall brick buildings line the waterfront and mark the distinction between the historic downtown and its historic working waterfront roots. The buildings lining this street largely served as warehouses back in Portsmouth’s early heydays when tall ships could have been seen lining the spots where the tugboats now dock. The Black Trumpet is one of the celebrated restaurant options in this neighborhood and I’ve always loved the appeal of its facade, as well as its intimate setting and interior.
Sunset Over Whaleback Lighthouse
A memorable sunset at Fort Stark in New Castle, NH after the moonrise for the super moon was a bust due to the clouds on the horizon. At least the clouds provided us with a beautiful canvas for the sunset!
Another impressive freighter in port at the State Pier. The Trogir is docked beneath a canopy of beautiful clouds at sunset in the Piscataqua River.
A memorable sunset over the Portsmouth waterfront and its iconic tugboats and the decks.
Dusk at The South End of Portsmouth
A beautifully calm river surface provides some picture perfect reflections of dusk as seen over the historic South End of Portsmouth. The North Church is seen in the distance along with the Memorial Bridge at far right, and the clocktower of the South Ward Meetinghouse.
A Fiery Portsmouth Sunset
This image of an intensely beautiful and colorful sky is another from an incredible evening earlier this summer. As the day ended – the light, fog, temperature and tide all made it a fascinating and evolving scene.
Happy Friday! Reminiscing about the beach in Cape Cod.
Brant Point Light
For today’s image we head to the island of Nantucket to feature one of its coastal lighthouses. Brant Point is in walking distance to the island’s main downtown district, and greets visitors on the ferry as they arrive. It has an iconic red walkway and is usually decorated for the season – featuring an American flag in the summer and a wreath for the Christmas season. I thought its classic profile looked beautiful beneath a clear blue sky.
