The Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion

The Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion sits on the shores of the Piscataqua River, and a massive anchor sits out in its front lawn.  I love the scene and the perspective of the wide-angle lens, the return of the fresh green grass adds to the rich yellow color of the building, and the textures of the anchor just perfects everything.  Worth the visit if you’ve never been…but more enjoyable in warmer weather.

The Anchor at the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion

The massive anchor that sits near the water at the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion in Portsmouth, NH is pretty impressive.  I love the textures of the wood in this shot, and was happy that the green grass is back with the arrival of spring.

When I was a kid, we used to vacation in Cape Cod, and the house we rented had this humongous anchor that we would take our annual family picture with….grandparents, cousins, aunts & uncles….you could pack all of us into the frame, but you could still see the anchor.  This brings back fond memories, it would be a great spot to start a new family tradition someday…I wonder whatever happened to that old anchor.

The Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion is also a pretty impressive building as I’ve posted about before. I’ll be featuring more shots from today’s visit sometime in the future…sadly, I forgot my tripod and the shots didn’t come out as well as I’d hoped…guess it means I’ll have to make another trip!
