Celebrate The Tugboats

This shot celebrates the tugboats – as they’re embraced with the powerful last rays of the stormy late afternoon’s sunlight. I was shocked when I got outside after an intense thunderstorm to see that the sunlight was making its way through some intense afternoon clouds.  Making the evening even more stunning was the fact that it was still sprinkling – and later rained heavily.  I got some keepers from a quick walk around Market Square…and will be posting them through the rest of the week.  If April showers bring May flowers – what do May showers do?

Tugboats & A Glassy River

Yet another take on the Moran Towing tugboats on the Portsmouth waterfront.  I liked the glassy reflections in this shot taken in the evening light.  Also updated the header today with a crop from this shot – a wider feel than the previous version.

Portsmouth Waterfront at Dusk

As the summer dwindles away, evening arrives a little sooner every day.  I was able to enjoy another nice dinner out at Poco’s deck before the weather gets too unforgiving at this time of night…which was a treat, especially since the deck will be moving next year to a new location against the building.  This view will soon be part of the public park planned for the spot….which I’m looking forward to seeing how it comes out.  Somehow I think the waterfront won’t be the same with one less spot to enjoy a delicious margarita.

Annabelle's Ice Cream (Outside and In)

In an ode to summer, today’s post features Annabelle’s Ice Cream.  The notorious ice cream cone hangs outside the tasty alley location on Ceres Street near the Moran Towing tugboats – and there always seems to be a crowd awaiting some delicious ice cream inside.
