The Portsmouth Museum of Fine Art

The Portsmouth Museum of Fine Art’s sign blows slightly in the breeze in front of Harbor Place, where the museum is located.  I believe the current exhibit, “The Sacred and The Profane” wraps this month and the museum will be closed from April 25th-May 4th as the new installation is prepared.

I’ve always enjoyed Harbor Place’s brick facade, which hides the Memorial Bridge in the shot above.  It’s nice to have the green grass return as a contrast to the warmer colors of the brick buildings.

Harbor Place & The Theodore Too

Harbor Place got a special visitor today, Theodore Too of the TV show Theodore Tugboat.  The rather adorable tugboat must be a hit with kids, as while I was snapping this shot I heard a very happy camper excited to see it from his parents car as they were driving by.  Stop by to check it out…

Meanwhile, I took a shot of the main entrance to Harbor Place…where you’ll find local firms Wiggin & Nourie as well as the new home of the Portsmouth Museum of Fine Art.  I hope to have another post up soon from my recent visit to the PMFA.

The Freighter’s Arrival

As I was enjoying my walk around Portsmouth on Veterans Day, I stopped in to the Portsmouth Museum of Fine Art (posts to follow) to check it out. While I was down at Harbor Place, I happened to notice that the Memorial Bridge span was all the way up…for what I was hoping would be the arrival of a freighter.  I was in luck…the Bosphorus Queen from Panama was just about to make its way under the bridge.
