Early Light in The South End

Early Light in The South End

Brewster’s Bait & Tackle is perched above the back channel of the Piscataqua River. The South End and its historic homes, including the Wentworth-Gardner mansion, add color and texture further in the distance.

Ocean Freedom at Sunset

Ocean Freedom at Sunset

A freighter visiting Portsmouth from Istanbul is unloaded on a warm winter evening ahead of another deep freeze, helping to replenish the shrinking salt piles.

Congress Street & The North Church

Congress Street & The North Church

Icicles on Odd Fellows Hall on Congress Street are the real giveaway that this image was taken during the winter.  The windows of the buildings lining Congress Street lead back to the steeple of the North Church on a cloudless evening.

Tugboats & Snow Drifts

Tugboats & Snow Drifts

The snow drifts from the incredible winter of 2015 have almost completely overtaken the railings at The Decks.  The snow drifts make for some interesting flow lines and somewhat soften the industrial waterfront of Portsmouth.

A Snow Filled Ceres Street

A Snow Filled Ceres Street

This is hands down one of my favorite views in Portsmouth.  The Decks, the stairways on Ceres Street, The Tugboats and a freighter.  It doesn’t get much better than this (except during the summers when the hanging garden is in bloom and all of The Decks are open).
