The Press Room

The Press Room is one of Portsmouth’s most longstanding establishments – and is unquestionably the destination for live music in Portsmouth.  The place has a phenomenal vibe, and live music every night of the week…with rustic exposed wooden beams, a cozy bar, and a friendly atmosphere. Next time you’ve got a hankering for music and a pint…head over to Daniel Street. The architect of the institution’s rich music history and culture, Bruce Pingree, was recently interviewed by Gossip Lady over at SeacoastOnline.com.

It was trash day downtown…the recycling bins and trash cans sit out on the sidewalk after Public Works did their thing.  It brings a real tangible dynamic to the otherwise picturesque storefront.

Three Graces

This welcoming storefront belongs to Three Graces Gallery on Market Street downtown.  The gallery’s location on Market Street usually gives it gorgeous sunsets, with rich intense rays of sunlight reaching down Hanover Street to hit the storefront for a few minutes before retiring for the day.  The shop also has a gorgeous hanging sign, but there’s something about a straight on shot of a store with a good door that I can’t get enough of.  More shots to follow of the hanging sign and of the window soaked in sunlight to follow another time…  If you love art, do yourself a favor and stop in to see the one of a kind items featured in the gallery.  Currently, the Teeny Tiny Art Show VIII is featured and well worth a visit.

The Doors of Portsmouth

Today’s post features one of the historic doors of Portsmouth in the South End.  I’m not quite sure what street I was on – but I’m sure that someone can let me know?  I was drawn to the American flag in the front door and the classic New England feel of the home and of the streetscape.  I am going to try and get back to posting more regularly on some of the series I’d dreamed up sometime last year…The Doors of Portsmouth, Streets of the South End, Rebuilding Portsmouth – to name a few.  Have a great weekend and stay cool!

Another idea for a new series to go along with the Streets of the South End and Portsmouth By Day | Portsmouth By Night.  The Doors of Portsmouth will be a nice addition to the site, highlighting the historic flavor of the city.

A gigantic old brick building tucked away on Pleasant Street downtown.
